ALABEL, Sarangani — A total of 17,882 Sarangan children aged two to five enrolled in the 589 Child Development Centers and Supervised Neighborhood Play across the province are set to receive daily nutritious meals under a 180-day supplementary feeding program by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with the provincial government.
This initiative aligns with Governor Rogelio “Ruel” D. Pacquiao’s governance agenda to prioritize child health and fight malnutrition across the province.
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has begun rolling out the initial batch of food packs to the municipalities of Alabel and Malapatan on October 17 to cover a seven-day cycle menu.
Food supplies for the Maitum, Kiamba, and Maasim clusters were earlier distributed on October 13, while Malungon got their share on October 15. Glan is scheduled to receive its allocation on October 20.
Implemented through the PSWDO, the program aims to improve the nutritional status, overall health, and classroom participation of young learners through daily meals and sustained nutrition education. {Beverly C. Paoyon/ SARANGANI PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICE)
