MOUNT APO NATURAL PARK OFFICE, Cotabato — The Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) of Mt. Apo Natural Park (MANP) Cotabato, in collaboration with the local government units (LGUs) of Kidapawan City, Makilala, and Magpet, recently conducted a series of Trail Resources Assessment and Monitoring (TRAM) activities along the official trails of Mt. Apo Natural Park.

The TRAM was conducted to assess the situation in the area, particularly the trails, and document their geophysical features and biodiversity. As provided under Technical Bulletin No. 2014-03, the assessment helps generate information that can be used in managing trails and developing appropriate visitor management measures for ecotourism.

Said series of assessments covered the Makalangit–New Israel Trail in Makilala on July 28–31, 2026; Bongolanon Trail in Magpet on August 4–7, 2026; and Mandangan Trail in Kidapawan City on August 19–21, 2026.
Based on the assessment, the official trails were found to be generally in excellent and passable condition. However, some portions were identified as needing rehabilitation and minor improvements. The results of the assessment will help guide the PAMO and partner LGUs in planning necessary trail management and rehabilitation measures to ensure visitor safety while protecting the natural environment of Mount Apo Natural Park.
