PRO-12 acts on online school violence threats

Police Regional Office 12 has acted on six separate reports involving alleged online threats of violence reported in South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, General Santos City, and Koronadal City.

These cases form part of a surge in reported online threats across the region following the recent Banga incident. While most were found through investigation to involve copycat behavior, rumors, or pranks without genuine intent to commit violence, PRO 12 continues to treat every security alert with utmost seriousness.

Several incidents involved minors, prompting close coordination with parents, schools, barangay officials, DSWD, and RACU 12. Cases involving children are handled according to their age, circumstances, and applicable laws.

Through digital investigation, intelligence monitoring, and prompt police response, the six cases were resolved through arrests, surrender, identification of persons involved, or referral to appropriate legal and social welfare authorities. Police also secured mobile phones, screenshots, and other digital evidence for proper case processing and forensic examination.

Regional Director Brigadier General Alan Manibog emphasized that every threat involving the safety of students and schools deserves immediate attention and proper verification. “Ang bawat banta sa seguridad ng ating mga paaralan at mga estudyante ay seryosong tinutugunan ng Pulisya. Hindi natin hinihintay na magkaroon ng aktuwal na insidente bago kumilos. Sa oras na may maiulat na banta, agad nating sinusuri, tinutukoy ang pinagmulan, at inaaksyunan ayon sa batas,” saad ni Manibog.
